Terms
Last updated 21 October 2026.
In short
- You keep what you write. It stays yours.
- Submitting lets this site read it, have a model score it, and use it in the story — and show the sentence it became beside your byline.
- A paragraph of lore is never published. What the night made of it is.
- A used entry may earn a share of the pool, when the treasury holds one. It is not a wage and not a promise.
- Be kind. Everything is read before it is used, and cruelty is refused.
- This is one person’s project, not a company. It may be late, wrong, or stop.
Those six lines are the agreement. The sections below are the same thing said properly, in the same plain words.
What this is
proskoinos is one continuing story. Every night a cast of language models plays the next night and a narrator writes it down, following the fork readers voted on and drawing on the details readers wrote. Nobody rewrites it afterwards; the one exception, unlawful content removed and the removal noted on the night, is described in What may not be written.
It is run by one person rather than a company. These terms are between you and that person, called the operator below.
You can reach the operator at hello@proskoinos.ai.
Your account
You sign in through Privy, with an email address or a Discord account and nothing else, which makes you a Solana wallet in the background. That wallet is your identity here: it is what a byline stands for and where a payment goes. The byline itself is assigned by the site, never chosen. Keeping access to the wallet is yours to do — the operator cannot recover it for you.
One account per person. Several accounts run by one reader is one of the things an award is withheld for.
The operator reads and votes here from an ordinary account, under these terms like anyone else, and submits nothing for pay: no entry from that account is ever credited or paid.
You must be of the age of majority where you live. Money changes hands here, so this is not a site for children.
What you grant by submitting
What you write stays yours. You keep the copyright and you can publish, sell or re-use your own words anywhere else.
Submitting gives the operator a licence to use it: non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide and royalty-free. Under it the operator may read your entry, have a model score it, use and adapt it in the story and in the story’s images, share cards and metadata, and show the sentence it became beside your byline.
It is irrevocable because a night cannot be unwritten. The licence outlives your account: closing it does not remove a night that has already been published.
The licence does not make your paragraph public. A lore entry’s own text is never published — only the sentence the night made of it, and only when that sentence can be found in the published prose.
You are saying, by submitting, that the words are yours to grant.
The nights
The nights, their fragments and their illustrations are published by the operator, and rights in them are reserved. You are welcome to quote them and to share them with a link back — that is what the share cards are for.
There is no open licence on them yet, and that is deliberate. A licence can be loosened later and never tightened, so the reversible choice is to hold rights now and decide in public once there is a public to decide it with.
A night may carry a quotation of at most a sentence from a public-domain or CC BY source. It is marked as a quotation and credited on the night, with its licence and a link. The reservation above does not reach those words: they stay under their own licence, not the operator’s.
Plates, one image for each chapter of ten nights, are made with Google’s image model, whose terms claim no ownership of what it makes. A plate that fails to draw is drawn by a later run, and until then those nights show the previous plate. The first twenty nights keep the covers they were published with.
Money
When a night uses your entry you are named in it, and a used entry may earn a share of the night’s pool — when the treasury holds one. What decides that is described on about and shown, in full, on the treasury.
It is not a wage, not a fee, and not a promise to pay. The treasury may hold nothing at all. An award the balance cannot cover is refused, and nothing is owed later: a night that had no pool is not paid for afterwards.
Payment, when it happens, is USDC on Solana to the wallet on your account. A confirmed transfer is final and public — it cannot be reversed, and anyone can look it up.
The first payment to a wallet also carries a small amount of SOL, which is what the network charges its fees in, so that the wallet can move what it was paid. It is booked as an expense of the treasury and is not part of your award.
Tax on anything you receive is yours. Payment is not available where the law forbids it.
No award is made, and nothing is sent, to anyone on a U.S. sanctions list, or to anyone ordinarily resident in, or acting from, a place under comprehensive U.S. embargo — today Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. Before anything is sent, the wallet is checked against the U.S. Treasury’s list, and the country and region your latest request came from are checked against the embargo. A request from an embargoed place cannot add a wallet to an account.
The operator may also withhold a payment it has reason to believe would breach sanctions law. A withheld amount is never sent: it returns to the commons, and its row on the treasury says withheld.
The operator may withhold an award that looks like abuse: several accounts for one person, text copied from somebody else, backing your own line. That is said here rather than done quietly.
There is nothing here to buy, and there will never be a token for sale.
Writing to the operator
A message you send from your record is private between you and the operator. It is not an entry: it reaches no night and is paid nothing.
A suggestion about this site may be used freely, with thanks and without obligation — nothing is owed for an idea about how the site should work, and none of it makes you an owner of anything here. What you write elsewhere on the site is covered by the licence above instead, which is a different thing and says so.
What may not be written
Every entry is read by a model before anything uses it. What it is looking for is on about: kindness in lore, wit that does not punch down in one-liners.
While readers are few, the operator’s own voices — the keeper, the dry one, the quick one, the wit — may propose lore and one-liners into the seats readers leave empty. They are marked as the operator’s wherever their names show, read by the same model as everyone else, and paid nothing; you may back their lines like any other.
Refused, and never used: contempt for a person or a group; cruelty; sexual content involving minors; anything unlawful; other people’s private information; text you have no right to license; and flooding — automated submission outside the door described below.
A refused entry is private. It is not listed anywhere and nobody else is told. There is no appeal, but you can revise it and submit again until the deadline.
Anyone may report published content they believe is unlawful by writing to hello@proskoinos.ai. The operator decides, within seven days of the report, and sooner for anything that endangers a person.
If it comes down, the passage is removed and replaced by a one-line note on the night saying that something was removed and why. The rest of the night stands: the record here is meant to be checkable, so it is never quietly changed. An award already paid is not clawed back; a pending one for removed content is cancelled.
To appeal a decision either way, reply to the same address. The operator answers within fourteen days.
Agents
Software agents cannot submit anything today. When that door opens, the person who registers an agent is responsible for everything it submits, exactly as if they had typed it themselves.
No warranty, and the site may stop
The story may be late, wrong, or missing for a night. The site is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. The operator may change it, pause it, or end it.
To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for loss arising from your use of the site.
These terms may change. A change is posted on this page with its date, and using the site after that date accepts it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New Hampshire.
